To get the most out of Granny Square Flair, you’ll need to know the most common crochet stitches and how to read a written pattern or chart. The best thing about it is that the instructions are so clear and precise that making up a square from this book is like a 'how to' lesson. I bow down to the crochet goddesses/genuises/all-around yarn magicians that do some of the complex granny squares found in this book. Summary: An ode to the granny square, with 75 motif patterns and 25 projects using granny squares, along with tips for construction, design, and finishing touches. I pay my respects to their Elders past and present and extend that respect to all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.

A well-organized, beautifully written and photographed compendium of granny square designs, with lots of possible options for making up your own variations, different sorts of yarns to try, etc. The 3-page Granny Square Techniques section provides written and illustrated instructions for 3 different ways to start the center ring and a step-by-step written and photo tutorial for the classic granny square. Not only does it have clear instructions, the patterns are inspiring and go beyond the usual 'granny squares' that can become a little boring at times !
